Pikey Peak Trek

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, the Everest Alpine Trekking representatives will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. After refreshment, you will be briefed in short about your tour by our guide or tour leader.  If you have any questions or doubts about your trip then they should be asked and clarified at this time. Overnight stay at hotel.

Kathmandu Valley includes several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Pashupatinath (famous Hindu temple and cremation ground) Boudhanath (massive Buddhist stupa). We can also visit Swyambhunath, also known as Monkey Temple, which was built roughly 2000 years ago.  Finally, we can visit Patan, city of fine arts. In the afternoon, you will be meeting with your trekking guide and will check all the necessary things. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leave very early at 0530 and drive in the jeeps. On arrival, a short trek to stretch the legs and arrive at Japre which is a small village with a pretty monastery and stupa located above a steep valley with views over Numbur Himal. The route on this day does have some construction so expect some vehicles, although the locals are creating new paths for walkers. It’s possible to drive some of this route now rather than walk.

Ascend up to a grassy ridge at Bhulbhule and turn right for the Pikey peak, following mani walls and old yak houses and then a pretty forested trail with many rhododendron trees. A further few hours to the base camp where there is a small quite simple lodge.

An early start to enjoy sunrise from the summit with hopefully clear views of Mount Everest and the extensive range of peaks including Thamserku, Kangtega and sometimes Kanchenjunga. Other peaks include Makalu, Dhaulagiri and Gaurishankar.
The route to Junbesi is quite long with plenty of up and downhill, into the Besi valley for views of Junbesi. Plenty of small settlements and forested trails. Junbesi is quite a busy village, famous for its monastery and a hub for local trade. Lovely traditional Sherpa houses.

Today will be an exploration day in the area of our stay. We will go to visit the ancient monastery of Thuptenchholing Gompa, which lies at a height of 2920 meters. The Gompa lies a little higher than the Junbesi. We will follow a trail that goes uphill alongside the Junbesi Khola.
A delightful stroll leads through aromatic, coniferous forests, streams, and tiny waterfalls. You will pass through suspension bridges en route. The verdant mountains seem to dangle from every corner, and clouds are visible from above. Pass an odd stone that looks like a tomb, covered in broken, old engravings and moss. We'll traverse a stream on a suspension bridge and stroll past a sizable chorten (stupa) surrounded by exquisite statuettes at the summit.
We then climb to an elevation of 3000 meters, at which point we approach the grounds. This leads us to the Gompa, which is quite significant for its history, culture, and religious values. After we explore this ancient Gompa, we will return back to Junbesi.

Today, you will leave Junbesi early in the morning and descend alongside the Junbesi Khola until you reach a suspension bridge. You will then cross the steel bridge and head towards Beni Ghat, where we will briefly stop for lunch. The hike resumes on the picturesque route alongside beautiful hamlets, terraced fields, and forests. After arriving at Phaplu, you will spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the tea house or immersing yourself in the Sherpa culture and savoring local food and drinks.

The seventh day is the last day of the marvelous Pikey Peak Trek. The journey starts as you hop on a private jeep for Kathmandu. During the first stretch of the ride, the road climbs the steep hills of Solukhmbu and descends to the beautiful Okhaldhunga. The jeep then heads west via the B.P. highway towards Kathmandu. Upon arriving in the capital city, our staff will escort you to the designated hotel. After you freshen up and relax, we will have a farewell dinner to celebrate the completion of the trek
