Baruntse Expedition

34 Days 33 Nights

The Baruntse Expedition (7,129m) is a classic Himalayan climbing adventure set in the remote Hunku Valley, between Mount Everest and Mount Makalu. Known as one of Nepal’s finest 7,000-meter peaks, Baruntse offers an ideal combination of high-altitude challenge, technical snow and ice climbing, and breathtaking mountain scenery. It is a perfect stepping stone for climbers aiming for future 8,000-meter expeditions.

Baruntse was first successfully climbed in 1954 by a British expedition led by Sir Edmund Hillary, making it an important peak in Himalayan mountaineering history. Today, it remains a preferred objective for climbers seeking a less crowded but professionally rewarding expedition experience.

The expedition begins with a scenic flight to Lukla followed by a trek through the remote Hinku Valley, crossing high passes, glaciers, and pristine alpine terrain before establishing Baruntse Base Camp. The standard climbing route follows the South-East Ridge, involving glacier travel, fixed rope sections, and steep snow slopes near the summit.

Overview

Baruntse Expedition offers a true Himalayan expedition experience without extreme technical difficulty. Its safe climbing route, manageable altitude, and spectacular scenery make it one of Nepal’s best 7,000-meter expedition peaks for ambitious mountaineers.
