Himlung Himal Expedition (7126m). is an option for experienced climbers who want to either climb this peak in its own right or who wish to gain further experience before tackling climbs over 8,000m. If you have Alpine PD+/ AD route experience (or have climbed Scottish Grade I/II winter routes) you will enjoy your climb on Himlung better. This is not a very technically difficult climb but it is physically demanding and takes 11 to 15 days to conquer the summit from base camp and back. The whole trip is 31 days, Kathmandu to Kathmandu, which includes 15 days for the climbing.
Overview
The Himlung Expedition lies close to the Tibetan border in the Manaslu region north east of the Annapurna range. Nepal government opened the region in 1992. Expedition for Himlung himal follows round Annapurna route to Koto and from Koto towards Nar – Phu gaon. The route passes through high peaks and passes, remote villages, narrow gullies, forests, rocks, springs, Gompas, and unique cultural settlements. Since the area is remote and untouched very few tourists have visited the region.
